The Art Work of Ian Parker

Ian is a figurative artist, who has worked with the Association of Mouth and Foot Painting Artists since graduating with a degree in fine art in 1993. Most of his work is produced for them, largely designs for Christmas or greetings cards, calendars or for other products in their range.
He also holds exhibitions, and does talks and demonstrations of his method of painting. These often take the form of workshops in local primary schools, which is a great way of increasing disability awareness, and also great fun! It’s always rewarding visiting adult groups too, as many who have bought MFPA cards and calendars over the years are glad to be able to see a mouth-painter ‘at work’ for the first time.

In February 2006, Ian had a residency and exhibition at the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery, Stoke-on-Trent. During the residency, he drew and painted in several different areas of the Museum, culminating in a self-portrait of him working in the Spitfire Gallery. He is a member of the Museum’s  Spitfire Support Group, which is raising money to restore the aircraft to its former glory.

Ian is married with two daughters, who occasionally feature in his paintings. He was born in Crawley, West Sussex, but has lived and worked in Stoke since 1993.
